This is huge! It’s the biggest project I’ve ever taken on and you guys get to help me with it….. ready?!
In my book IMPACT, I warn about the next financial disaster we have in this country stemming from the pending student loan crises. I quote stats like “only 50% of students enroll in college actually graduate with a degree,” and “less than half of all adults under 25 years old are working in a career that matches their degree.”
Since 1995 the student loan default rate has been over 20%. That’s higher than mortgages, car loans, credit cards, and payday loans combined! There are tons of financial ramifications to student loan debt, but there are also some tangible issues to deal with as well. 46% of student loan borrowers postpone going to grad school because of too much debt. 42% delay purchasing a home and 28% delay starting a family.
worse yet. . .
In 2007, a study by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that high amounts of student loan debt caused workers to choose a higher paying job in fields that did not line up with their passions, thus they were making ends meet while miserable in their occupation.
That means you went to school to be AWESOME and came out AVERAGE.
My dream is for your financial position to be your biggest contributor into your dream instead of your biggest inhibitor!
How are we going to do that?
We are going to show the power of community. I’ve been blessed with amazing readers and a voice that stands against the debt patterns of this world. For 2 years I’ve poured into the lives of thousands of readers on this blog, helping them get out of debt, live on a plan, and build wealth.
It is my firm belief that we live in a world full of people that desperately want to be generous. And I’m confident that by showing people how to take control of their money, I’ve equipped them to be generous like never before. If we combine that power of generosity, with the power of this community, and create an opportunity to give toward a common purpose, then I believe we can help eliminate the student loan debt for at least one individual.
Today I’m announcing: The Community of Awesome College Scholarship!
This is an opportunity for the readers of Casey-Lewis.com to come together to raise funds for at least one college student trying to graduate from school without student loan debt.
The idea is simple. You go to this website and donate money toward the scholarship fund. If you want to apply for the scholarship, you follow the entry rules below.
Let’s show the world how awesome community and generosity really can be!
